With exactly one month to its premiere on Netflix, Marvel has released a new Daredevil trailer that nicely parallels Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), attorney-turned-vigilante Daredevil, and his nemesis, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). Both men grew up in Hell’s Kitchen; it’s in their blood; and both want to make it a better place. And therein lies the rub.
Most of the details in the trailer match what we already know from the unfortunate 2003 Ben Affleck movie: the gritty New York City backdrop; Daredevil’s ability to sense everything his sight lacks; the constant blurring between good and evil.
Whereas in the movie Karen Page was a tiny part (most of Ellen Pompeo’s scenes were cut) in comparison to his love interest Elektra, the Netflix series has Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) set as a major character—reflecting her and Matt Murdock’s long-term relationship in the comics. And, lest viewers wonder if Daredevil will really be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s a quick reference to the other caped crusaders currently beating up robots and whatnot:
You can watch all of Daredevil season 1 on Netflix on April 10.
